"Fortune, like Time magazine was born from a desire to create a magazine that elevated the reader above the commonherd by making information King. To reflect this 'elevated thinking', covers were commissioned to convey 'a new intelligence', often abstract seldom cryptic. It's a balancing act Fortune finds too hard to convey to it's readers these days and has recently been superseded by the younger and nimbler Bloomsburg Businesweek."
